Well, it seems that the ultimate goal is to clean up the city by wiping out a portion of the population. This sounds rather strong, but you can really look at that way. The government has been closing shops for no good reason. Obviously if shops and businesses are closed, shopkeepers, business owners and their family members can't survive. Furthermore, not everyone can start from the beginning. This essentially moves a number of people out of the city.

Tough, tough rules for Indians to visit. If the Govt thinks you are a risk... you might run off and become an illegal immigrant... they set impossible rules. |
I am currently arranging a Japanese visa for someone; it seems that it's not as bad as Australian visa, but it's still not very easy. They say life is unfair, but it really is.

Interesting development on 'Sealing (closing of businesses in Delhi)'
My friend just emptied his office/factory yesterday so that, if some government official stops by, he can just tell him that there are no commercial activities taking place; he might be able to avoid getting sealed for the moment. He will be in his empty office/factory today nonetheless because, in case that the government official shows up, he can respond properly. Tough deal ...
From what I hear, this is not the worst problem he's faced in his life time. How do people here manage to go through something like this? I can't comprehend ...

Freak weather
Thunderstorm again. Weather is kind of weird or this is pretty normal around here? What feels strange that thunderstorm seems to come from nowhere. Maybe this is due to the weather change up in Himalayas?

Given the very low per capita income, the conventional wisdom tells you that India is not the safest country. But, in reality, you don't face a lot of physical danger; in fact, the murder rate in India is probably lower than that in US. However, India is a very male-dominant country, so in many places, you only see men. As long as you can let go of the discomfort you might feel, it is a country that you can travel alone relatively safely IMO.

Good news is that he's got the visa today.
Bad news is that I almost fainted today. I created a couple of documents for him and he submitted them yesterday. He was going to pick up his passport and hear the result of the review and I was accompanying him. Since we were neighbors, he drove his scooter and I rode on the backseat. However, on our way to Japanese embassy, I started feeling sick. I knew that I was going to faint, so I had to ask him to stop so that I can take some rest. He drove for another 5 minutes, found a place that I can rest and stopped. As soon as I got off the scooter, I could barely stand up. He asked if he should get me a cab (3 wheeler) so that I can go home; I just asked him to go to the embassy alone because it was very important.
As soon as I got on the cab, I threw up. Maybe this was a result of bad (rotten) food or heat exhaustion. Maybe both. Anyhow I still could not sit straight at this point and reached home 30 minutes later. At this point, I could walk so I just walked up to my flat and slept most of the day. It was a rough day ...

I feel better finally.
I did some work this morning, but I had minor headache. I tried to get rested, but the headache didn't go away. So, I finally went to a pharmacy and bought some medicine. I took two pills and I also took shower; I was sweating like crazy. I have no headache now and I feel so much better.
I've been to several countries, but India is a difficult country to live in. That doesn't necessarily mean that India is a bad country, but life is not easy here physically ...

That's a great question. Sounds pretty pathetic, but I haven't had fun in a while. I do things like going out to watch movies, window shopping and so on, but I haven't had real fun, a blast, in a while. Something needs to change ...

I was in Japan for two weeks plus and I went to visit the following cities:
Gifu, Nagoya, Tokyo and Kyoto. I had a company and this was kind of like a business trip. We covered good distance and we also visited many places. We only spent four and a half days in Tokyo, but we covered ...

For variety of reasons, I didn't have A/C or cooler in my flat, but when I got back from Japan last week, it was too hot here and I finally bought cooler. I finally slept well. But this thing is huge. I don't know if anyone can find cooler this large for personal use anywhere in developed countries ...

Yet another crappy day in India.
So, the cooler I bought the day before yesterday stopped working within the first twenty four hours. Obviously, I'm not happy. The shop I bought this from is supposed to send a guy to my flat to fix this, but he hasn't arrived today. Is he coming at all? I don't know.
No wonder, so many people think that India is full of cheats and scumbags ... *** sigh ***

Well, the latest on this.
The shop owner claims that he sent a man to my flat today, but he couldn't find it (Oh ... really?). Now this a** h*** wants someone to go to his shop, pick up the repair guy, bring him here and then bring him back to the shop once the job is done. Wow ..., what an amazing service ...!
Ladies and gentlemen, this is what you get (or don't get) in India ...
