My idea of honeymoon is to spend few days in an Indian village not away from the main city but away from the tourists and daily upheavals. Simple stay in a home like accommodation with only basic amenities and interaction with villagers whenever we feel like to understand their life style. Any takers ? _________________ Your Travel Guide for India:

yes you could stay in a local house but interact when YOU want to Never !!!!
i dont think this is my idea of a honeymoon, but depends how long you have been together. etc..
.I would want to spend my time with my new husband .
exploring somewhere together would be fun but you will want and need time on own maybe travelling around.
But this one not for me ..everyone to there own . |

Yes there is a longstanding border dispute but not all of India is near the border, is it?
If you plan on visiting the mountainous regions near the border you may want to exercise some caution, but otherwise, it's an overstated concern. |

| I don't think you are going to escape the "daily upheavals" any where you go in India--they are everywhere! |

I heard India is a pretty amazing place but have never been. I would suggest word of mouth might suit you for your requirements rather than any operators offering. I believe its a friendly place (hectic) and is peaceful _________________ French holiday villas

If you fancy India for your honeymoon then defo go for it. Don't miss out on the sights as well though. The obvious choice is the Taj Mahal which is great but next to this is the Red Fort at Agra, simply stunning. Also it's well worth paying for a local guide to take you round the Fort as it offers a wealth of history from pre and post Colonial times.
Also, don't worry too much about the trouble on the border with Pakistan. I was there a few years ago and saw the changing of the guard, it's great fun and not too dissimilar to a football match in the UK, just without a ball. You'd need to stay the night in Amritsar to do this which will also give you the opportunity to visit the Golden Tmeple, one of the ancient wonders of the world and a truly spiritual experience. If you're looking for a chill out then the beaches of Goa and very laid back but I can't comment here beacuse we didn't venture that far south.
As for booking in advance for homestays, I'm not sure who you might use for this. It might be worth contacting the Indian Tourist Office to see if they can help you out. They'll probably have a list of local suppliers who can assist.
For the record, our honeymoon was 3 years ago in Indonesia. Absolutely fantastic and Gili Trawangan remains just about my most favourite place on the planet. But that's another story.
Good luck with the wedding. |

| My idea of the perfect Honeymoon is to pass two weeks on an island, like Maui in Hawaii, beautiful view, nice water, sands, sun and coktails and complet relaxation! And not to forget the Spa, massages, hammam, shiatsu,... You can find all that on the island of Maui (Hawaii) at the Hotel Hana Maui and its beautiful Honua Spa. |
